GETTING STARTED
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The information provided below is to help you start the program for
your hardware configuration. For more details about the operation of
the program press the F1 (function) key once you have started the
program. This will invoke the help screens that provide information
about the functions, commands, features, etc.
AS-EASY-AS is started from DOS using the command:
A> ASEASY /Option1/Option2/Option3/..... [ENTER]
Available Options
-----------------
CT- Center character used for column headings.
MY=x- Set currency character to x (Default is $).
TP=x- Set Column heading character to x.
E - Enhanced Graphics Display, 640x350 (AUTODETECTED where possible)
H - Hercules Graphics Display, 720x348 at page $b800 (AUTODETECTED)
H2- Force Hercules Graphics to second page at $b000.
ATT - Enable AT&T Graphics Display, 640x400
AUTO=- Direct ASEASYAS to autoload designated filename
DIR=C:\ASEASY - Set the Directory PATH used when accessing data.
SET=$MGFB - Set Colors (in hexadecimal) WHERE:
M = Menu Color
G = Graph Color (applicable on color monitors)
F = Foreground Color
B = Background Color
Example:
A> ASEASY /H2/DIR=C:\Data [ENTER]
Starts AS-EASY-AS for a Hercules type monitor/card
combination, using the second page for graphics, and
instructs the program that the data files will be
located on drive C, in subdirectory "Data".
RUNNING AS-EASY-AS FROM ANY DIRECTORY
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Set a DOS environment variable (ASEASY) to the drive and path of
the ASEASYAS .EXE, HLP, PRT and MSG files (Note that these files
should be in the same directory). This can be done at the DOS
prompt by typing SET ASEASY=Drive:\Directory and pressing
[ENTER]. The command may also be included in your AUTOEXEC.BAT
file so the variable is set automatically every time you start your
computer.
2. Make sure that the directory, where the ASEASY.EXE file is located,
is included in your system's Path command.
If done correctly, typing ASEASY and pressing [ENTER], from any
directory, will start the program.
ADD-INS
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 4.00 of AS-EASY-AS supports the development and use of Add-In
programs. These programs can either be self-standing executable
programs that automatically shell to DOS but do not involve the AS-EASY-
AS worksheet in RAM, or they can be developed to access the current
worksheet data. The information necessary to access the worksheet data
in RAM, for such Add-In programs, is contained in the AS-EASY-AS
developer's package (not shareware). For more information on the
developer's AS-EASY-AS package and possible distribution of Add-Ins,
please contact TRIUS, Inc. at (508) 794-9377.
Add-Ins are installed using the command /WSheet, General, Install, Addin.
The menu presented allowes you to Create a new AddIn (i.e., install it),
Delete an Addin (i.e., de-install it) or Reset (De-install) all AddIns.
Once prompted for, type the name of the Addin program (.EXE file) and
press [ENTER]. You need to Save the newly generated configuration file
(ASEASY.CNF), that contains the info about the AddIns. Once installed,
the Addin menu may be accessed by typing /User, AddinName.
Two sample Add-In programs are provided on this diskette, LNDSCAPE.EXE
and ZOOM.EXE. These Add-Ins are already installed in ASEASY.CNF for you.
To de-install them, use the information provided in the previous
paragraph.
LNDSCAPE.EXE allows some rudimentary sideways printing (on a dot matrix
printer) from within an AS-EASY-AS worksheet. It is invoked with the
command /U, and by selecting Lndscape from the presented menu. Once
invoked, the Menu options of LNDSCAPE are as folows:
RANGE: Specify the print range
LINEFEED: Advance the paper one line
PAGEADV: Advance the paper to the next TOF
OPTION: Invoke the Options menu
MARGIN: Set the page bottom margin
LINESPACE: Set the line spacing (# dots/line)
CHARSPACE: Set the character spacing
PGLENGTH: Set the page length (# lines)
WIDTH: Set the page width (# characters)
QUIT: Return to the main PORTRAIT menu
GO: Start Printing Sideways
QUIT: Return to the AS-EASY-AS Ready mode
The other Add-In provided on this diskette, is ZOOM.EXE which provides
the user with information similar to that provided by the Range, Audit,
Overview command. To invoke it, use the command /U and select ZOOM from
the presented menu. The Menu options of ZOOM are as folows:
RANGE: Set the range to audit
VIEW: Display the usage of the specified range
QUIT: Return to the AS-EASY-AS Ready mode.
